A sample schedule for a day at Footprints

Morning Routine

• Wake-Up: Residents typically have an early wake-up call to start the day right with good habits and a positive outlook.
• Breakfast: A healthy breakfast is provided, emphasizing nutrition’s role in recovery.
• Morning Meditation/Beach Walk: Many of our programs start the day with a mediation & reflection period, which include mindfulness practices & discussion of the day’s goals, along with a walk on the beautiful beaches of Treasure Island, Florida.
• Group Therapy: Central to most of our rehab programs, group sessions allow our residents to share experiences, learn from each other, and offer mutual support. These sessions often focus on topics like coping strategies, the nature of addiction, and rebuilding relationships.
• Individual Therapy: Residents usually meet with a therapist for one-on-one sessions to address personal issues related to their addiction, including underlying causes and triggers.

Afternoon Schedule of Activities

• Lunch: Healthy meals are critical to well-being and are integrated throughout the day to ensure residents are getting the nutrition needed to become stronger physically, mentally and emotionally.
• Experiential & Group Therapy Sessions: Depending on the facility, residents may participate in specialized therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed therapy, or other approaches tailored to individual needs.
• Physical Activity/Gym: Some form of exercise is always a part of the daily schedule, with onsite gym access, yoga classes, or other options for physical activities to promote physical health and stress relief.
• Beach Time: With our cottages only steps from the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, we encourage our clients to spend a lot of time at the beach. Enjoy the fresh air, explore the beaches and parks in Treasure Island and connect with nature.
• Personal Time/Assignments: This is your time to relax, reflect, breath and work on yourself. During therapy sessions our certified therapists will provide you “homework” or assignments, such as worksheets, journaling, etc.

Evening Routine

• Dinner: A communal meal that offers another opportunity for residents to connect and support one another.
• Free Time/Leisure Activities: Our clients will have access to recreational activities, reading materials, or just additional time to relax, reflect and unwind before getting a good nights rest.
• Lights Out: A set bedtime helps reinforce a healthy routine, crucial for recovery.

Weekends

Weekends have a lighter schedule and often include continued therapy sessions, recreational activities, and sometimes, family visitation or family therapy sessions.
