“Footprints was the third treatment center I had been to and by far the best.

The staff is very professional and truly cares about the needs of their clients. The location is unreal! It is located in a safe and beautiful area, and the house I stayed at was probably the nicest house I’ve lived in, not even a quarter-mile from the beach. Instead of H&I meetings that most treatment centers bring in, we went to outside actual AA meetings every night and were encouraged to get a sponsor and start the 12 steps while we were there, and even participate in service work. I was at Footprints for two months, and by the time I left, I was already on my eighth step.”

“All of the clients there truly want to learn how to live a sober and healthy life.

We had access to the fitness center across the street, which I loved, and if you follow the rules, you are allowed to leave for about an hour at a time by yourself to go to the beach, for a walk, run, or bike ride. I loved that because I am a runner, and it puts us in a more real-life setting. That way, when we get out, we are not completely overwhelmed by the real world because we were already living in it, unlike how other treatment centers are more of a hospital-like setting. I learned SO much about myself while I was there. My self-esteem went from nothing to having self-respect and confidence with the help of the staff, the sponsor I met at the women’s meetings we attended, and the help of the other women there. What is awesome about this treatment center is the staff plans fun sober activities for us, like paddleboarding, bowling, going out for ice cream, and mini-golf. It is a small rehab, and it is very cohesive, so the high school-like drama that goes on at other treatment centers was not going on at Footprints.”

“Footprints was my second try at a rehab facility for an alcohol addiction spanning 20 years and was quickly spiraling in a direct descent.

The first rehab I attended was a large facility where you are just a number and a paycheck. The rest was up to you. It did not work, and I did not work it. The difference with Footprints is that is a small facility (15 patients top) with a highly devoted staff that get behind your recovery, not in front of. All patients gather for each learning session which creates another support system for rehabilitation. There is plenty of one on one counseling with amazing therapists that get to the core of your battle with yourself. Every day is full and busy, including outside, fun excursions for learning how to cope and actually have fun without addiction. An added bonus is a casual refreshing venue at the beach. I reluctantly committed to 30 days and eagerly stayed 60 days. The friends I made are my dearest, and most of us still support each other. I am now coming on a year sober. Aside from that being incredible, I have not battled the beast of alcohol screaming in my head at all. Every day sober is an incredible gift and delightful. Footprints taught me how to manage every day in that light, and I am forever grateful.”
