Safely Overcoming Alcohol Addiction: The Right Way to Stop

Many people assume that quitting an addiction is merely a matter of willpower. Those that cannot quit on their own accord are weak or just don’t want to quit bad enough. The truth is that alcohol addiction is a disease that requires professional treatment.

Once someone has decided that they want to stop using alcohol they have a few important choices to make. Many people wonder “Should I just try to stop drinking cold turkey?” since it is less expensive than going to a treatment facility.

In theory, this sounds like a good idea, but if done without professional supervision
it can be dangerous and even fatal. If you need a reminder, True Blood star Nelsan Ellis, ashamed of his addiction, passed away while attempting to detox from alcohol on his own.

How to Detox from Alcohol safely?

Footprints Beachside recovery offers proven treatment programs to make the withdrawal process as comfortable as possible. There is no “one size” fits all program.

Some of the treatment options we offer are:

  • individual therapy
  • holistic treatment options
  • relapse prevention

Our staff works with patients to ensure that they are not tackling addiction alone. We’ve worked with hundreds of patients who were able to stop drinking, find a purpose and renew their lives.

Admissions

The intake process begins with a simple phone pre-screening.

After admission, your recovery begins on your first day at our facility. Patients will meet with our medical doctor for a health and physical exam. All clients will also undergo an assessment with a licensed professional. Together, the therapists and client will design an treatment plan that works for them. In addition, patients will also meet with an individual therapist at least two times per week for individualized therapy.

General Questions might be asked during Admission:

  • Have you ever been clinically diagnosed physical or mental health problems
  • How much/often are you drinking alcohol?
  • How would you describe your relationship with family and friends?
